M55 hat-trick 🥇 in Waiblingen’s Old Town Race

Celebrating the hat-trick last Sunday by winning the M55 of this race for the third year in a row 🥇🥇🥇

It’s the beautiful city of Waiblingen’s 10 km Old Town Race in June 2026. It’s always a pleasant event. The course is composed of 5 laps, requiring the navigation of a number of narrow corners, many of them on the cobble stone surface of the charming old town. And a stretch through the adjacent park on lower grounds. The accumulated elevation gain is about 100m.

Temperatures were unusually hot, around 35 C. A mindful approach was the motto of the day, not a course record.

After the second kilometer I realized that my pace was still too high for the conditions. So I reduced it and finished the race in a steady pace from there. Many others must have done the same because my overall position didn’t change.

I won my race – the M55 🥇 – with an incredible lead of 10 minutes over the second in my category, illustrating the toll taken by the temperatures.

I feel grateful and happy with this.
